Description American Red Cross course to learn how to teach swimming, and how to be safe in and around water. Participants must be 16 years old, and successfully pass prerequisites: 25 yard swim of each following strokes-front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke, elementary backstroke, and butterfly; also demonstrate a long shallow dive, and back float for 1 minute. Participants must complete about 12 hours of online content, 10 hours of classroom and pool content, pass a written exam, and perform teaching skills to standard in order to receive instructor certificate.
