Roz has starred in the company’s production of Black Pearl Sings! in
Spring of 2019 which was Helen Hayes Recommended by Theatre
Washington. As part of this project Roz led the company in a reading
of the play at the Library of Congress and was also a guiding force in
our workshops and conversation with Duke Ellington School of the Arts,
where she was on the faculty of the Theatre and Music Departments.
In May 2022, Roz took on the pivotal role of Mary Burrell in the
Alliance premiere of Voices of Zion: The Black Georgetown Cemeteries
Project. Roz is currently in the national touring company of the
Broadway musical Tina, in the role of Tina's mother. Roz White has
starred in and received stellar reviews for her self-penned cabaret
Pearl Bailey... by Request, which made its World Premiere at
Metrostage, in Alexandria VA in 2008 and made its debut Off-Broadway
in 2011. This phenomenal singer-actress has performed at area theatres
across the DMV, including Studio Theatre, Mosaic, and (most regularly
featured) in MetroStage shows, including a former production of Black
Pearl Sings! Many times over the years, she has collaborated
successfully with writer-director Thomas W. Jones II, including his
“Lady” in Ladies Swing The Blues, Three Sistahs, and perhaps most
especially in Bessie’s Blues, which garnered her the Helen Hayes
Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Musical. Other
theatrical credits include international, national and regional
companies of Dreamgirls, Blues In The Night, Eubie, Rejoice, Don’t
Stop The Carnival, Guys and Dolls, and Mahalia. Roz has recorded and
toured with many artists including gospel music legend Yolanda Adams

which merges her storytelling gift with the warmth and earthiness of
her vocal styling. Her film credits include Black and Blue, and How
The Day Begins. Roz White is a proud member of Actor’s Equity
