There is an increased emphasis on aerobic training, swimming intervals, and race strategy, while continuing to refine stroke technique. Swimmers in this group are encouraged to attend meets regularly to use and continue to develop the skills and conditioning they obtain during practices. This group practices up to five to six times per week. Swimmers should be able to swim all four competitive strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. They also need the ability to do pace and interval training using a pace clock and commit to a rigorous training program.
