The Vancouver Poetry House presents feature poet, Deirdre Lee.
A bit about our feature:
"Deirdre Lee is a fluid, fierce, eclectic, empathic healer whose process is poetry. She specializes in owning her words, and the stage; tenderly telling difficult truths and bringing the audience back home. Current captain of the Halifax Slam Team, some of her recent appearances include Word On the Street and the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word. Her chapbook, Wolves With Wi-Fi, will be available this Spring. An unofficial, unconventional Auntie, Deirdre keeps her medicines close & currently makes her home in K’jipuktuk in the unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq people."
This is the first slam of the summer season, which features three rounds. A two-minute round of 12 poets, a one-minute round of 6 poets, and then a four-minute round of 3 poets. Cut from below, clean slate each round. Let the summer season begin!
Cafe Deux Soleils and the Van Slam strive to be a trans friendly place and a hate speech free zone. Help us with that. We also acknowledge that this event takes place on unceded First Nations Territory.
Also, be kind to our VOLUNTEER door staff. They have to follow BC Liquor Board Rules and once we are sold out we can’t let anyone in unless someone leaves. You cannot save seats for people in line. Let them know if you are leaving. Also no ATM at the door, it’s cash ONLY.
Get there early if you want a seat or want to slam. Before 7pm!
