We acknowledge this event is taking place on the unceded territories of the Squamish, Musqueam and Tsleil-Waututh people.
Tonight will simply be an action packed cash slam for money and prizes. There will be 2 rounds of 3 minute long poems. 12 poets in the first round and the top 5 in the second.
We will also have a poetry open mic and a feature performance. This month's feature is Catherine Garrett
"Catherine Garrett is a hard hitting son-of-a-gun with a feminist chip on one shoulder and a post-apocalyptic shoulder pad on the other. She loves as fiercely as she lives: awkwardly with more passion than anyone should try at home. She’s been a member of the 2016 and 2017 Victoria Slam teams and a member of the 2018 Saskatoon Poetic Arts ensemble, and a member of the Richmond Sockeyes broadcasting crew. Her work has been featured in LINK Magazine and Oratorealis. You can find her in a broadcast booth talking sports or in front of her television crying about them."
It's $4 for anyone 18 and under and $6-$10 if you're 19 and up. It's cash only at the door so please be kind to our door volunteers.
Vancouver Poetry House and the Vancouver Poetry Slam strive to host trans friendly events. We hope that you can help us attain this goal.
We have a wheelchair ramp for folks wanting to perform.
Sign up at 7pm. Show starts at 8 o'clock.
