This 6-week summer course will focus on rehearsal techniques to run a successful chamber ensemble. Students will not only learn how to work together in smaller settings but will also get the opportunity to work in larger ensembles without a conductor. Aside from daily rehearsals, students will also learn the history behind chamber music from its origins in Europe and how it has traveled across to different parts of the world. This course is offered to anyone who plays a string, brass, woodwind, and percussion instrument. Students must inform the teacher in advance before missing any class. Students may miss no more than 5 days if enrolled in any for-credit course. Students may not miss any days during the first or last week of any for-credit course. If this policy is not adhered to, students will not be awarded credit for the course. For-credit courses are excluded from the early registration discount.
