FURTHER NOTICE, ALL IN-PERSON “WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN” PARENT
SEMINARS ARE CONVERTING TO EMAIL-ONLY PARTICIPATION. We apologize for
the inconvenience and wish everyone safety and good health.
PLEASE DO NOT COME TO THE COURTHOUSE IN PERSON; THE CLASS IS BY EMAIL
ONLY. THERE IS NO "ONLINE" COMPONENT, AND YOU DO NOT NEED TO SIGN
INTO EVENTBRITE TO ACCESS THE MATERIALS. YOU MAY READ THE MATERIALS
IN THE COMFORT OF YOUR OWN HOME ON YOUR OWN SCHEDULE AS THERE IS NOT A
TIME LIMIT TO COMPLETE THE READING, ALTHOUGH TWO WEEKS IS A
RECOMMENDED TIME FRAME.
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO A COMPUTER AND WOULD LIKE PAPER COPIES OF
THE MATERIALS MAILED TO YOU THROUGH THE US Postal Service, please send
an email to parentseminar@kingcounty.gov with your physical mailing
address, and I will mail the materials to you.
Please register as you normally would for the PARENT SEMINAR. If you
are in need of a fee waiver, please email US
at parentseminar@kingcounty.gov to receive information regarding the
documents required to obtain a fee waiver BEFORE YOU
REGISTER. Please make sure your email address is correct as you will
receive seminar materials via email and a copy of your certificate
will be emailed to you.
MATERIALS WILL BE EMAILED ON THE DAY OF YOUR SCHEDULED CLASS OR
SHORTLY THEREAFTER. Please be patient as we implement this new
system.
Please read all the materials carefully as they include an instruction
letter that tells you how you receive your certificate of
completion. When you complete the necessary steps, we will issue your
certificate. A copy will be emailed to you for your personal
records. The original certificate will be filed with King County
Superior Court unless your case is in another jurisdiction or you do
not have a case number yet.

Cost/Payment·
The cost for this class is $40.00 plus any applicable fees. _The
cost can be waived or reduced based on your income_. Please see the
FAQ section below for fee reduction guidelines. ·
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
WHAT IF I NEED A FEE WAIVER?
Please email the class coordinators
at ParentSeminar@kingcounty.gov to obtain a code to register at a
reduced or waived cost.
Fees are waived per person if your after-tax income is less than 125%
of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, or you receive TANF or Food Stamps.
Fees are reduced to $10.00 per person if your after-tax (net) income
is less than $20,000.00 _and _is above 125% of the Federal Poverty
Guidelines (see table below). You must provide proof of your income.
Acceptable proof of income includes current Tax Returns; Pay stubs or
Unemployment stubs.
Fees are reduced to $5.00 per person if you are receiving SSI, SSDI,
or other public benefits _and _your income is above 125% of the
Federal Poverty Guidelines (see table below). You must provide proof
of your benefits. Acceptable proof of benefits includes current
ProviderOne Services card; Proof of state health insurance; SSI or
SSDI.
ARE BOTH PARTIES ABLE TO ATTEND THE PARENT SEMINAR TOGETHER?
No, parties are strictly prohibited from attending the same Parent
Seminar session. If both parties are registered for the same Parent
Seminar, the party that register second will be contacted to
reschedule.
WHAT IF I NEED AN INTERPRETER?
There are no fees for interpreters. If you are requesting an
interpreter, you must select a date at least two weeks from the date
of registering. Please complete the interpreter section of the
registration form to indicate the language needed. After making an
interpreter request via Eventbrite, please immediately email
ParentSeminar@kingcounty.gov to confirm your interpreter request has
been received. Interpreters are NOT available for classes starting at
before 8 AM or classes starting after 4PM.
WHAT'S THE REFUND POLICY?
You can receive a refund until 1 day prior to the class.
HOW LONG IS THE PARENT SEMINAR?
The Parent Seminar is 3 hours and 15 minutes long.
