An Introduction to Mindful Practices
As mindfulness continues to grow it’s challenging for you to sift through all the information and make it your own.
During this 4-day workshop, meeting every Monday for the month of February, we will gather and learn the practices of mindfulness and how to start a meditation practice so that you can actually apply it to your day-to-day.
Filled with time to discuss and contemplate “what is meditation.” As well as how meditation may or may not feel while you’re practicing; each day together we’ll put our discoveries to practice and sit for about 20-30 minutes.
By the end you'll finally get clear on your personal “why” you want to meditate.
Complimentary journals provided for everyone that signs up (while supplies last).
Week 1: What is the breath and how does it apply to meditation?
The breath is found in many mindful practices such as yoga, meditation, and tai chi. If you’ve ever gotten a piercing or a tattoo, you’re familiar with them telling you to “now, take a breath” when it’s about to be painful. Why is that?
Learn the basics of how the breath works in the body, the connection to the nervous system, and how it supports your meditation practice.
Week 2: What other techniques can you use in meditation?
While there are thousands of meditation techniques, Mantra is a very common technique to use in meditation.
Learn why this technique works for many meditators.
Week 3: How else can you release or become familiar with your thoughts?
When we begin to meditate we become familiar with the thoughts that are constantly on “play/rewind/repeat.” We’ll use the practice of Mindful Journaling to shed some light on the subconscious or rumination. Then invite the Metta Meditation to support your body, mind, and soul.
Week 4: What’s the big picture with meditation? Figure out your ‘why’
We can read all the benefits and research about how meditation is great for us. How it lowers our stress levels. Or relieves our anxiety. But until it’s crystal clear why YOU want to step into this practice, the practice will be fleeting. While it's helpful and reassuring to know that science backs up this practice, figure out your personal why.
