COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Screencasting is recording a computer screen (website, document,
content page in Canvas, etc.) to demonstrate doing something, reading
something, etc. Some Screencasting software allows you to record
either a "talking head" or a screen or both.
SCREENCASTING IS COMMONLY USED FOR THE FOLLOWING PURPOSES:
* Demonstrate how to navigate a course, website, or software such as
a course tour
* Explain how to change settings on a software program
* Present or summarize content such as a mini lecture
* Provide an overview of a "chunk" of course content or assignment
* Provide feedback on an assignment (either faculty or student peer
review)
* Virtual field trips or other simulations
* Students demonstrating their learning
This Zoom workshop is designed to teach you how to use
Screencast-o-matic to plan, create, edit, and publish a video for one
of your courses.
BY THE COMPLETION OF THIS WORKSHOP, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO:
* Activate the Screencast-o-matic app/LTI (Learning Tools
Interoperability) from the Canvas App Center in your Canvas shell.
* Download and install the Screencast-o-matic recorder.
* Adjust the audio/visual settings for recording and playback on
your computer.
* Create a script to use for your video.
* Record your video.
* Edit your video.
* Publish your video.
Please bring a headset/mic to the workshop.
