NARRATED BUS TOURS OF HISTORIC VANPORT
Bus tours are approximately 75 minutes, and start and conclude at EXPO
center building D
RSVP $5 recommended/seating is limited
Join us for narrated bus tours of the original Vanport site. Seldom
open to the public, this route will include sites of the historic
city’s most important civic functions, residential areas and natural
resources. Learn about the Miracle City before, during and after the
flood, and the legacy that we have today.
Included in the ticket, a itinerary map/educational resource.
Bus tours are approximately 75 minutes. . The tour route will close
at 4:00 pm.

SELF-GUIDED WALKING TOURS
Volkswalk & self-guided Walking TOURS OF HISTORIC VANPORT
On-going 10-2pm
Free/ $3 Registration fee on site if choosing Volkswalk credit
This 5k and 10k marked walking route sponsored by The Oregon Trail
State Volkssport Association will give you an opportunity to explore
on your own time at your own pace, the actual area where the city of
Vanport existed. The walk includes signs that describe where buildings
were, in what locations, and how the town of “Vanport” was
organized. In addition, a 3.5k self-guided walk is available through
the Vanport Mosaic with an additional itinerary map/educational
resource available on site by donation.

years later, we gather on the sites once occupied by Oregon’s second
largest city, home to over 40,000 people, and explore its history and

VANPORT: A STORY LIVED. A STORY TOLD. Mixing archival photographs
and historical records with personal testimonies of former residents,
this Vanport Mosaic pop-up exhibit presents the multifaceted story of
Vanport and its vibrant community.

THE ARCHITECTURE OF INTERNMENT: THE BUILD UP TO WARTIME INCARCERATION.
This traveling exhibit explores how Oregonians participated in the
decision to incarcerate Japanese Americans and Japanese immigrants
during World War II. It shows the lead up to incarceration (1941-1942)
with letters, resolutions, blueprints, photographs and archival
documents from across the state of Oregon. Curated by Graham Street
