FREE THE 350 BAIL FUND ANNOUNCES HIP HOP FUNDRAISER CONCERT TO FREE
PEOPLE UNJUSTLY IMPRISONED IN DANE COUNTY JAIL – Free The 350 Bail
Fund to hold hip hop fundraiser concert to raise money to free folks
in Dane County jail who are legally presumed innocent but don’t have
enough money to pay their bail. As Tone Madison describes it, “Free
The 350 Bail Fund… bails out [Black] people… in the Dane County
Jail, in a sustained push against the practice of cash bail and the
racial disparities baked into the American criminal justice system.”
All the proceeds of the fundraiser concert will go towards paying bail
for people who can’t afford it. Coming off a successful pho
fundraiser event ran by Bail Fund member, Tommy Valtin-Erwin , in
which over $2,500 was raised and used to free five people during the
holidays, Free The 350 Bail Fund is ready for the next round of
freedom fundraising. Rob Dz, a pillar in the Madison community who
advocates for homeless folks at the library and even received an award
from first lady Michelle Obama for his work there, will headline the
event. Rob Dz, who has performed with numerous heavy hitters like Nas,
Common & the Black Eyed Peas to name a few, has appeared on ESPN and
MTV and also ran for Dane County supervisor in 2016 . Also appearing
on the bill, Lil Guillotine, who was recently named in Tone
Madison’s “ Madison singles and deep cuts that stood out in 2019,
” and was recently featured in a Teen Vogue article , helped start
the Bail Fund and is a key member of the Bail Fund’s fundraising
team.
