February from 7.30pm at the GOETHE-INSTITUT IN PARKWOOD - Entrance
free! The GOETHE-INSTITUT SOUTH AFRICA IS TURNING 25! Our history is
closely connected to that of the Republic of SOUTH AFRICA, since we
opened our first office in Rosebank after the end of Apartheid.
Similar to Mzansi, we have grown immensely and can now look back on a
quarter-century of fostering SOUTH AFRICAN-German relations. We are
proud of having created great partnerships (which more often than not
have turned into friendships) through our work of encouraging
international cultural exchange and supporting the SOUTH AFRICAN ARTS
AND CULTURE SCENES. On Friday, 28 February we round off a week of
celebrations with a big party: We start off with a participatory choir
performance by the Gauteng Choristers - GC that will teach the
audience how to sing Beethoven’s “Ode to joy” as well as a
well-known SOUTH AFRICAN SONGS. Afterwards, the Brass Roots project
led by Marcus Wyatt and Alex Hitzeroth will get the party going with
some heavy brass sounds. To top it all off, German born, SOUTH AFRICAN
BASED SUPERSTAR RALF GUM WILL MAKE SURE NO FEET STAND STILL! Entrance
free, but as we are expecting a large amount of guests, please RSVP
