The SCARBOROUGH FAIR IS A COMMUNITY EVENT ORGANISED BY THE SCARBOROUGH
COMMUNITY (CAPE TOWN, Southern Peninsula) and hosted by the CAMEL ROCK
RESTAURANT.This summer 2018-2019 will see the happening of 6 Fairs,
from November to April.
The atmosphere of these Fairs makes them quite unique, with most
welcoming, friendly, vibrant and creative energies blessing the venue
and the crowds.
For this upcoming Fair on 17th March, we will have an incredible
musical line up and other activities for young and old.
Firstly, Moonjavas, is a duo on accordion and ukelele. A gentle intro
to ambience of the Fair. Not to be missed!
The local virtuosi of the SCARBOROUGH JAZZ ENSEMBLE WILL ALSO BE ON
STAGE WITH REVIEWED BOSSA NOVA AND JAZZ CLASSICS, as well as folk and
pop covers by Traveller, spiritual songs by Maya Joy, and at this fair
we will also introduce new talent Zia, Jamie Jupiter's daughter. The
duo Ben and Bro will be there too with their unique looping skills,
with which they overlap their guitar, saxophone and voices to create
an upbeat concert you can dance to if you please!
All these performances are busking in support of the Red Hill Feeding
Project, which provides 90 free meals every day in the neighbouring
informal settlement on Red Hill.
And there will also be free activities for children: a friendship
bracelet workshop with art teacher Jedidjah, beautiful face paints by
Alison, a bouncy castle and of course lots and lots of stalls selling
home-made, locally produced, sustainably thought and irresistible
goods and gifts.
On the food side of things, there will be a special Burrito Bar from
the Camel Rock, as well as fresh juices, craft beer, frozen cocktails,
pizzas, braai and all the other menu staples. Check out the new
revolutionary rocket oven in the courtyard, which is now helping out
Priscilla, the famous camel-shaped clay pizza-oven.
