At the SOL gatherings, we deeply explore community living, feeling the earth beneath our feet, being mindful of our actions and our words, co-creating every step of the day, as we live the vision of bringing the village and real collaboration back into our everyday lives – for our children, for our selves, for the Earth... REMEMBERING HOME <3 <3 <3 The SPACE OF LOVE GATHERINGS ARE INSPIRED BY ANASTASIA AND THE RINGING CEDAR SERIES OF BOOKS, where the term 'SPACE OF LOVE' COMES FROM. www.energyoflife.ca <3 <3 <3 WHAT DOES CO-CREATION MEAN? Co-creation means that although a core team has done the initial groundwork and preparation, during the gathering we all come together as a loving and supportive community family to offer our energy, skills, gifts and awareness to the SPACE! As this gathering has matured since its first in 2010, it has been wonderful to see the community as a whole step in and make things happen, creating a beautiful SPACE OF LOVE. <3 AWARENESSES Meals are prepared communally and we ask that everyone take a turn in the kitchen. We also ask that you hold an awareness of keeping SPACES CLEAN, taking back with you all that you have brought, and dealing responsibly with refuse – reduce, reuse, recycle! <3 Sound. The tipi village is an intimate SPACE, and often also has many young children. We therefore wind the drums down by a certain time each night. The time will be decided at the gathering once we discover the constellations of our family for the long weekend. <3 Other roles will also come up spontaneously during the weekend, and we ask that you enter into them with love: e.g. refuse/recycling, toilet awareness etc. If you see something that needs doing – do it :) FUN AND SPONTANEITY Bring your instruments and whatever else needed, to be ready to offer up your performances, face painting, fire dancing, poi, activities with kids, music/jamming circles, open circles for discussion and whatever feels free, fun and exciting in the moment! Other items like big stainless steel pots, sound equipment or stretchy tents are most welcome too. Talk to Sarah or Mark about those please. <3 WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING FOR THE WEEKEND? Whole and mostly organic food for the communal kitchen (details below) Own plates, cutlery, mug, bowl etc Your own tea/coffee items Drinking water (on site water from mountain brown in colour due to minerals. Can drink at own discretion. Other ecofriendly option is to bring and fill up your own containers with reverse osmosis water at Osmands in GREYTON.) Musical instruments All your camping gear and bedding Torch Warm sweater for evening Yoga mat Towel and swimming gear Hat, sunglasses, biodegradable sunscreen Biodegradable soaps/shampoo etc Insect repellent like citronella Kitchen equipment Face paint, bubbles, poi, fairy wings or whatever strikes your fancy :) An open heart and mind <3 WHAT NOT TO BRING Alcohol Illegal drugs and substances Mind or consciousness altering plant medicines Non-biodegradable products Dogs and other four-leggeds (unless by special arrangement with us - please contact us for the dog rules) <3 OFFERINGS SCHEDULE We will have a schedule with shared offerings (eg Anastasia Play, Maypole Dance) and then thematic slots that get filled by you as the gathering starts (eg Yoga, Qigong, Tai Chi, Conscious Dance, Sound Journey, Workshops, Talks, Kids' Activities ...). Swimming in the Dam & SPACES IN BETWEEN ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AS IS SINGING AROUND THE FIRE AT NIGHT & during meal preps. Meal Prep is a very important part of the gathering and a lot of magic and learning happens in the sharing of the communal kitchen tasks. There is a beautiful hall as a venue and we will put up stretch tents as are available (please bring stretch tents if you have one) <3 HOW DO THE KITCHEN and MEALS WORK? To enter into the spirit of co-creation and to keep prices down we have decided on a “bring and share” approach – yummy healthy vegetarian/vegan food with a focus on raw food will be prepared communally. Although our focus is raw foods, we do cook certain foods particularly in the evenings. Our Core Team will provide kitchen focalisers, and this focaliser will organise a team of kitchen angels to lead, prepare and tidy up a meal (1 team per meal). Essentially what it means is that pretty much everyone will need to take one turn or more in the kitchen. The kitchen in many ways is the heart of the gathering, and where the most incredible co-creations take place. We will prepare food with our full love and awareness – chanting, singing, laughing and loving <3 WHAT FOOD SHOULD I BRING? Fresh and delicious ingredients to make yummy vegetarian meals (with a raw focus). Boxes of organic fruit, salad and vegetables, nuts, seeds, raisins, sprouts, tahini etc. Included in the ticket price we are supplying organic: rice, oats, buckwheat, mung beans, salt, dates and raisins, do not bring any of these items. Below is a list of some of the food items that make up our ideal shopping list with items for you to choose from. Let your intuition guide you with what to bring… <3 FOOD WISH LIST: Fruit (when seasonal): pineapple, watermelon, bananas, peaches, mangoes, nectarines, ORGANIC grapes, pears, lemons, apples if possible. Vegetables: Carrots, potatoes, sweet potatoes, butternut, onions, garlic, ginger, broccoli, sweetcorn, red pepper, yellow pepper, cabbage, spinach, cucumber, organic tomato, organic lettuce, organic celery, avocado, baby marrow, patty pans, kale, green beans, cauliflower, organic sulphur free dried tomatoes, seaweeds, etc Nut and Seeds: all nuts (raw), sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, almonds and Quinoa Lentils: red and green Oils: Olive oil, coconut oil Superfoods: Raw cacao, chia seeds, lucuma, maca, etc Sprouts: alfalfa, broccoli, beetroot Misc: RAW honey, tahini, braggs, indian spices, organic olives, apple cider vinegar <3 Also any kitchen equipment you feel inspired to contribute would be appreciated: think champion blenders, big pots, knives, chopping boards, peelers, big serving bowls/tubs, serving spoons, aluminium foil (for a fire meal) etc. We are hiring big pots, but if anyone has a 25l/15l pot (not aluminium) please let us know. <3 Where it is stated organic, please do not bring if not organic as these items are heavily sprayed. Here are some places you can buy organic food: www.wellnesswarehouse.com Organic Zone, Main road Lakeside Harvest of hope Bees in boots Lizzie's organics Skye's organics <3 HOW MUCH FOOD SHOULD I BRING? Bring generously. Enough food to feed yourself, your family and maybe your neighbour. Think bigger rather than smaller. The more yummy food you bring, the more deliciousness there will be for us to all share. Please bring your own tea/coffee/juice, honey, sugar items if needed, and drinking water. <3 WHY DO I HAVE TO BRING FOOD, CANT I BUY IT THERE? In order to make the event as non-commercial as possible, we have decided to create a communal kitchen, rather than support stalls or vendors. This brings down costs for you, and also enables us to enter into a beautiful co-creation in the kitchen. <3 CAN I BRING NON VEGETARIAN FOOD? The food we cook together will be vegan, but Yes, if you feel you or your child needs eggs, milk or meat, you can bring your own. There are fridges available. Just keep it separate and tidy. And rather bring cold meats that don't need cooking. There is also the option of going into GREYTON to have a meal. <3 Food is love and consciousness <3 If you have any food queries feel free to contact us HOW DO TOILETS/SHOWERS WORK? There are flushing toilets and hot water showers. There are only four showers (hot water is limited). Please bring only biodegradable cosmetics and soaps. We encourage you to get down with nature and cool down and swim in our huge dam (20min walk from tipi site). Please no soaps or unnatural sunscreens in the dam. <3 TICKET INFO The costs of hiring the tipi village have dramatically increased since this gathering started 8 years ago, as the BLUE HIPPO understandably looks to sustain itself economically. We aim to make tickets as affordable as possible, without putting undue strain on our ability to cover costs. Our price structure has a flat rate for a ticket which includes camping. If you wish to book a bed in one of the tipis (or the whole tipi if required), or book a cob hobbit house, then there are additional fees on top of the flat rate. <3 IF I AM ASSISTING IN THE KITCHEN OR OFFERING AN EVENT/WORKSHOP, DO I STILL HAVE TO BUY A TICKET? SPACE OF LOVE IS A NOT FOR PROFIT GATHERING. We are all volunteers. Your ticket covers the overheads needed to make this event happen. This is a co-created SPACE IN WHICH WE ALL SHARE AND RECEIVE IN EQUAL MEASURE. This way of working has also enabled us to keep ticket prices as low as possible to make SOL more accessible. If you are offering an event or acting as a kitchen angel, you will still have lots of time to enjoy the many gifts of the SPACE AND TO PARTICIPATE IN OTHER EVENTS AND WORKSHOPS! There is something very beautiful in being able to offer and to contribute to the creation of this kind of SPACE. As with all things, the more you contribute the more you receive :) <3 facebook page: SPACE OF LOVE <3 videos of some past gatherings: www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQjOfVKXlFw www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mb0trBeG_sI www.youtube.com/watch?v=urKttTdKn3k <3 Directions to the BLUE HIPPO: www.bluehippofarm.com/directions.html <3 For any questions or thoughts please email Sarah: sarah.healthy@gmail.com <3 Look forward to co-creating a very special time together!
