WOMEN IN MEDIA FAR NORTH QUEENSLAND INVITES YOU TO JOIN AWARD-winning
journalist, author and social justice campaigner TRACEY SPICER
AM for LUNCH ON SATURDAY JULY 21 AT RYDGES CAIRNS ESPLANADE.
Renowned for the courage of her convictions and commitment to
equality, TRACEY ALSO HAS A WICKED SENSE OF HUMOUR.
During her 30-year career, TRACEY HAS REPORTED FOR, and anchored,
national news, current affairs and lifestyle programs for ABC TV,
Network Ten, Channel 9 and Sky News. Tracey was sacked by email aged
39 in 2006 while on maternity leave, prompting a ground-breaking fight
against discrimination.
In the wake of the scandals in the entertainment industry in Hollywood
and elsewhere, TRACEY HAS BECOME THE FACE OF THE #MeToo movement in
AUSTRALIA to break the silence. More than 1600 WOMEN ACROSS INDUSTRIES
AND BACKGROUNDS HAVE CONTACTED HER WITH THEIR STORIES INVOLVING OVER
100 MEN, 40 of them household names.
TRACEY IS THE CO-founder of WOMEN IN MEDIA, a nationwide mentoring and
networking group, backed by the MEDIA, Entertainment and Arts
Alliance. She has recently stepped down as the group's national
convener to concentrate on _Now Australia, _an organisation to
support those who have been sexually harassed, assaulted or
intimidated at work. Tracey also works as a weekly columnist for
Fairfax, a trainer and regular commentator and last year published her
frank and entertaining memoir, The Good Girl Stripped Bare.
