PRESENTED BY PROFESSOR SIMON BELL (DIRECTOR, CENTRE FOR MEDICINE USE
AND SAFETY, FACULTY OF PHARMACY AND PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES, MONASH
UNIVERSITY).
THIS WORKSHOP WILL:
1. DESCRIBE FACTORS THAT CONTRIBUTE TO COMPLEX MEDICATION REGIMENS IN
RESIDENTIAL AGED CARE;
2. DESCRIBE THE BENEFITS OF REGIMEN SIMPLIFICATION AND IDENTIFY
POSSIBLE SITUATIONS IN WHICH REGIMEN SIMPLIFICATION MAY NOT BE
DESIRABLE; AND
3. APPLY A 5-STEP IMPLICIT TOOL TO IDENTIFY OPPORTUNITIES FOR
SIMPLIFYING COMPLEX MEDICATION REGIMENS.
