Since 2013, PSI have partnered with the NHS Leadership Academy in
hosting and delivering the Healthcare Leadership Model (HLM) 360
degree feedback tool. Measuring nine dimensions of Leadership, the
HLM is designed to be applicable for any person involved in healthcare
regardless of position or level. The 360 degree feedback tool allows
participants to assess their own behaviour against the nine dimensions
of the HLM, as well as inviting feedback from colleagues including
Line Manager, peers, direct reports and any other group of raters.
The HLM360 is used formally as part of some national NHS Leadership/
Management programmes (e.g. Mary Seacole, Elizabeth Garrett Anderson),
or it can be taken independently or as part of a more local
organisational leadership development programme.
As part of the HLM360 process, participants receive a 1-2-1 feedback
session from a trained facilitator. PSI have designed and provided
these training packages to support the quality assurance of
facilitators across the NHS. These are managed through a variety of
methods:
* elearning – an online package that all facilitators complete in
order to complete their accreditation. This packages includes course
materials, exercises and an assessment, which facilitators need to
successfully pass (80% pass mark)
* New facilitators (face to face training) – In addition to the
elearning, any new facilitator must attend a face to face training
session. This combines standard course content with discussion-based
exercises. Participants also complete a practical exercise, giving
feedback to another person. Upon successful completion of this, along
with the elearning, delegates accredit to be a 360 degree feedback
facilitator. This one day course can either be delivered by PSI
Consultants, or by people across the NHS (who have attended the Train
the Trainer programme – see below)
