_MOHO STUDY DAY __FOR OCCUPATIONAL THERAPISTS: _‘VOLITION &
REMOTIVATION’_WITH__ __SUE PARKINSON, MOHO TRAINER_
DATE: MARCH 19TH 2020, 9.30AM - 4.00PM__
THE SOURCE SKILLS ACADEMY, MEADOWHALL, SHEFFIELD
_MOHO enables us to notice and articulate subtle changes _
_in a person’s motivation to participate in occupation _
_… and shows us how we can rebuild motivation step by step_
Motivation to participate in occupation can be affected by life
experiences, and so we find ourselves travelling back and forth across
a VOLITIONAL CONTINUUM. This is conceptualised by the Model of Human
Occupation in three stages: _exploration, competency and achievement_.
The _Volitional Questionnaire_ (VQ) provides us with valuable insights
regarding a person’s current level of VOLITION_,_ (or motivation to
participate in occupation), by structuring our observations of their
actions within any given environment. It can be used with the
_Remotivation Process,_ which provides guidelines for graded
interventions to rebuild motivation for participation in meaningful
activities at each stage of the volitional continuum.
N.B. This is an introductory workshop reflecting on how MOHO theory
relates to OT practice. Participants who decide to use the VQ or the
Remotivation Process can purchase manuals from www.moho.uic.edu
