American born folklorist Margaret Fay Shaw relocated to the Western Isles of Scotland in 1929, remaining there until her death in 2004. Spanning over five decades, her photographs document her own life, as well as offering a fascinating window view of rural Hebridean life in the twentieth century. Lily Barnes is the Morton Photographic Project Documentation and Digitisation Officer. Since 2018, she has worked to preserve the photographic collections of the National Trust for Scotland.
