Making News Toolkit - Pilot Workshop

Join NEU Cymru and Cardiff University's Centre for Community Journalism for a one day pilot workshop on a "Making News" toolkit for schools.

Given that this is a pilot workshop we ask that all participants provide feedback (in focus group format) on each session in the module in order that amendments can be made to the toolkit prior to launch.

By following the sessions set out in the toolkit you will be able to guide your pupils in developing basic journalism skills as they learn to film and edit their own news packages using smartphones and tablets to create and edit content.

As you work through the toolkit pupils will learn...

• what makes a story newsworthy
• the importance of the 5 Ws
• how to put together a news story
• the imporance of truth and accuracy in news
• filming and interviewing techniques

Participants on this workshop will receive copy of the pilot toolkit, along with all relevant handouts and resources.

Lunch and refreshments are provided.
