Learn about the culture you are living among and see Uluru through the eyes of Anangu! For tens of thousands of years Anangu have walked this country. Their extensive knowledge of the land and tjukurpa have allowed them to thrive and now they will share this knowledge with you.
Families are welcome. Please register every individual over two years old in your family.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a 6 week course offered on Tuesdays and Saturdays each week starting from the 14th and 18th July. Signing up here only registers your interest in the whole course. We will email you with options for exact dates/times each week.
Over 6 weeks, in partnership with Maruku Arts, you will learn about language, tjukurpa, bush tucker and the Anangu way of life. In Week 1 through a Dot-Painting Workshop you will be taught the meaning of the ancient Anangu symbols used in rock art and have a going at telling your own story with art. The best way to learn tjukurpa is to experience it, so on Weeks 2 and 3 you will be taken on two walks at the base of Uluru to see the marks the creation beings have left behind and hear their stories. In Week 4 an open and casual discussion with Anangu Elders will help answer any questions you may have about culture and they will also share their personal stories with you. In the program Week 5 is a reflection on your experience before, in Week 6, you will be lucky enough to experience an inma, a traditional story-telling dance, which is an experience you cannot miss along with a Mutitjulu community BBQ. This will be your chance to get to know the community members with an afternoon of fun activities, roo tails, and snags.
These 6 weeks will bring you closer to your new home. See you there!
