Career and Recovery Resources, Inc.

Career and Recovery Resources, Inc. is a 72 year old non-profit, United Way agency located in Houston, Texas.  Our mission is to help people identify and overcome barriers to employment.  Through a variety of programs we address barriers such as homelessness, disabilities, ex-offender status, older age, limited educational and job skills, and substance use disorder.  Most of our clients are challenged by multiple barriers.  Our specialized programs address employment barriers common to each group providing career guidance, job placement assistance, supportive services, referrals for community resources, and intensive case management.  Enrichment classes include adult basic education and computer classes.  Supportive services include but are not limited to transportation assistance, career clothing/shoes, various work-related expenses, and a scholarship fund for vocational certification or higher education.  Youth are served with career exploration workshops, career counseling and assessment tools.  If over the age of 18, employment services are available.  The agency is licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services and provides adult outpatient substance abuse treatment services.  We also provide HIV/STD counseling, testing and referral at various locations around the city.  Bilingual services are available for Spanish-speaking and clients that are deaf and hard of hearing, of which American Sign Language is offered.
