CICS Ralph Ellison Campus is an urban high school dedicated to offering students a rigorous college preparatory education where our students demonstrate the intellectual skills, the cultural competence, the belief in self, and the engagement in community necessary for success in school, college, the workplace and life.CICS Ellison is named for the African-American writer and teacher who achieved international fame with his first novel, Invisible Man. Ellison's novels and essays were transformative in our thinking about race, identity and what it means to be an American.CICS Ellison opened in August, 2006 with 150 students in grade nine only. Today, the school operates at its capacity of nearly 600 students enrolled in grades 9-12. CICS Ellison is dedicated to providing high quality, college preparatory instruction with an emphasis on rigor, relevance and the forging of strong relationships.Our school is distinguished by its commitment to sustaining a robust community of learners, where educators work closely with students to support academic, social and personal development.
