Disability Pride Philadelphia creates a FREE all-inclusive Parade and week-long Celebration (June 10-June 15) for Philadelphia and the surrounding areas to “Celebrate our Differences/End Stigma.” As you may know, the overall mission of Disability Pride Week is to change the way that people the way that people think about and define “disability”; break down and end the internalized shame among people with disabilities; and to promote the belief in society that disability is a natural and beautiful part of human diversity in which people living with disabilities can take pride. The week starts with a Flag Raising Pep Rally at City Hall from 4:30-6:30 PM. We will be screening Piss on Pity: The Story of ADAPT on Tuesday June 11th, Arts in the Courtyard on Wednesday June 12th, Philly premiere of Take a Look at the Heart on Thursday June 13th, and a Happy Hour on Friday June 14th. On Saturday, June 15th opening ceremonies begin at the National Constitution Center @ 10 AM. At 11 AM we willmarch up Market Street to City Hall to show our Pride and Unity. At City Hall the celebration kicks off in the courtyard with live music, food trucks, informational bazaar, and kid's activities. Having grown over the past seven years (last year we had over 60 sponsors), we expect this year’s events to be the biggest and best yet- all of which is possible through the generosity of our sponsors and community partners.
