J. LeShaé

J. LeShaé is an interdisciplinary artist, activist, and educator obsessed with freedom.   Born Jamie LeShaé Jenkins, J. is a carrier of voices who believes that by examining the complexities of our ancestries, we learn to own the divinity of our designs and ultimately become free, fearless beings. Her work is the story of Sankofa, going back in human history to fetch that which was forgotten, and return balance to our collective consciousness.  After two decades of travel, rigorous study, and immersion into Afro-indigenous and Afro-diasporic cultures worldwide, J reimagines life through the spiritual-scientific gaze of her ancestors and uses art and education as a vehicles to engineer energetic balance.   A first-generation high school and college graduate, from Pleasant Grove, Dallas, Texas, J. LeShaé earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Clark Atlanta University, and a Master of Arts in Teaching from National University. She is the Founder and Executive Director of BOOM [Building Opportunities & Opening Minds] which provides spaces of affirmation, decolonization, organization, and innovation to visionary youth invested in liberation for all. She also coaches educators, professionals, and organizations nation-wide as the President and Principal of Conscious Consulting.
