About Our Readers:
Our readers come from all walks of life. They represent the mosaic of our community and share one thing in common -- they care about Black and Brown youth seeing their presence in community and hearing stories that celebrate the rich culture and heritage of our communities.
About Yodit:
Yodit is a mom, an activist, a nonprofit executive and founder of Lips & Hips; a social enterprise that mentors girls through a lip gloss enterprise that funds their futures. She resides in Ypsilanti.
About Tamara:
Tammy is a mom, a scientist and professor, a dancer and activist. She is also co-founder of the Akoma Portal; an online directory of black owned businesses. She resides in Ypsilanti.
About Blackstone:
Is an African American bookstore & Cultural center in downtown Ypsilanti, Michigan. We opened November 2, 2013 in the hopes of providing our customers with bestselling & classic African American books, black art & all kinds of items of African American interest! We are a bookstore where journalists, writers, professors, students & bonafide lovers of real and true African American Literature, hard-to-find, even some nearly-out-of-print books will find a spot of solace in the heart.
