About NWSSA

Our mission is to nurture the community of stone sculptors by developing educational opportunities, providing a support system to members, and facilitating interaction with regional, national and international communities. To learn about becoming a member of the Northwest Stone Sculptors Association (NWSSA) visit our website at www.nwssa.org

NWSSA is an association of stone sculptors that was founded in 1984 by Meg Pettibone in Seattle. Our first symposium was held in 1986 in the Methow Valley east of the Cascade Mountains in Washington State. We have since grown to include stone sculptors and associates throughout the western United States, Canada, and other parts of the world. We are a federal tax exempt status 501c nonprofit membership organization.

NWSSA organizes 2 annual week-long symposia in the Pacific Northwest, hosts group shows, publishes a Journal Sculpture Northwest, houses an online tool manual, Grindopedia, and operates a website as well as an email discussion group.

NWSSA is a nonprofit (501c3) membership organization serving as a resource for stone sculpture. It develops educational opportunities, and provides a support system for all who love stone. You need not be a sculptor to come to a workshop or symposium. At the symposium you can learn all you need to know to work stone. Who knows where the journey will take you!
