Sara Zalek

Sara Zalek is fierce advocate and business instigator for artists. She is currently producing and curating performance specifically related to Butoh, in an attempt to share an embodied imagination. Sara has collaborated in over 70 unique performance works and creates solo performance installations using Butoh technique as a primary base of training and teaching. Her work has been featured at venues nationally, including Chicago Cultural Center, Millennium Park, Hamlin Park, Links Hall, Defibrillator Gallery, Co-Prosperity Sphere, Dance Theatre Workshop (NY), Merce Cunningham Studio (NY), Headwaters Theater (PDX), and she received CAAP grants in 2007 and 2009 for performance works. Sara has been a LinkUp Artist with Aurora Tabar, and in 2014/15 produced critically acclaimed Post-Butoh Festivals. She is currently a CDF Lab Artist, serves on the Board of Directors for both The Space Movement Project and Antibody Corporation, and has worked with HCL, Pentacle, Out of Site Chicago, and DCASE to continue her mission of cross-pollinating audiences, artistic collaborations, and performance in the public realm.
