Shaida Bibi

Shaida Bibi has joined Birmingham Council as a Community Co-ordinator under the Government’s Counter Extremism Strategy, 2015. The purpose of this post is to build an extensive understanding of extremism in Birmingham and lead on identifying and providing support to groups countering extremism in all its forms; notably in areas of hate crime, child sexual exploitation, female genital mutilation and honour based violence. Shaida’s role is key in supporting national work to build partnerships with local communities and groups. As well as representing the council at various internal and external meetings, a key aspect of the role is to lead, engage and build resilience of the communities and organisations in order to empower them to challenge all forms of extremism. Additionally, support is provided to organisations that share these aims to bid for in-kind support and grant funding for specific programmes that deliver goals set out in the Counter Extremism Strategy.
