Slabtown Tours LLC

Portlanders Mike Ryerson and Tanya Lyn March worked on Slabtown history and the Slabtown Community Festival for a decade as friends and volunteers.  In 2013, the pair teamed up as business partners to create Mike's History Tours. On January 6th, 2015 Mike passed and Tanya revamped the tours and formed Slabtown Tours LLC.  All gift cards sold by Mike's History Tours are honored by Slabtown Tours.  Slabtown Tours LLC consists of one tour guide and three teenage  volunteers currently.   *** Tanya Lyn March received her doctoral degree in University Studies from Portland State University in 2010, focusing on historic preservation and community development. She has a master's degree in Historic Preservation from Columbia University and is raising two young boys who attend Metropolitan Learning Center in Northwest Portland. She is currently working on a book about the homefront experience of children who lived in the Guild's Lake Courts war housing in Northwest Portland during World War II. She is applied her historic building research skills for an upcoming OHS  exhibit on the history of Portland's Chinatowns and is the historian on call for The Aperture Project.  In the rainy sason she leads school groups, researches historic homes for real estate agents, home owners, and foes of demolition.   On a raining day you might find her offering a lively slide presentation or ferreting through materials in the City Archives.  Private group tours start at $150 for leading 15 or less participants ($10 extra for each guest after 15 individuals, with a limit of 25 guests on a single tour).  All tours are offered year-round.
