United Smart Cities (USC) & Braintribe

United Smart Cities (USC) coordinated by the the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the Organization for International Economic Relations (OiER), is a multi-stakeholder program, which aims to address the development of Smart Sustainable Cities around the world and supports the implementation of the 2030 Agenda at the local level. The USC program evaluates cities, develops city profiles, supports strategies in terms of urban planning and priorities, project development in cooperation with urban experts and the private sector, identifies finance options, and evaluates city projects and progress. As the intention is not an overnight success - it is essential to define a set of indicators allowing for comparability, promotion of sustainability, and progress quantifiability. In this regard, the UN has developed a set of international key performance indicators (KPIs) for Smart Sustainable Cities to establish the criteria to evaluate KPIs contributions in making cities smarter and more sustainable, and to provide cities with the means for self-assessments to achieve the sustainable development goals (SDGs). These indicators have been developed to provide cities with a consistent and standardized method to collect data and measure performance.
