Women's Center of Wake County

The Women's Center is a multi-service resource center, located near downtown Raleigh. Our mission is to prevent and end homelessness for women in The Triangle. Through tireless engagement and outreach, we work with each individual woman to help break the cycle of homelessness and realize her dream of a safe, affordable home and sustained self-sufficiency. The Women’s Center has been an established and welcoming portal of entry for homeless women for over 40 years. We provide a safe, low barrier, client-centered and trauma sensitive environment for homeless women, where they can begin the stabilizing process and transition toward their goal of permanent housing.   The Women’s Center is the only drop-in day shelter for women in The Triangle, serving 30-50 women per day year round. Homeless women staying in local Emergency Overnight Shelters must vacate each morning and may not return until late afternoon. Still others are unable to find overnight shelter and live unsheltered on the streets. The Women’s Center provides safe day shelter, as well as critical, life-saving services, such as medical and behavioral healthcare, food, clothing, hygiene items, housing support and counseling and assistance in acquiring vital documents and accessing local resources. The Women’s Center welcomes all women experiencing homelessness and does not discriminate based on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, gender expression, physical appearance, language, educational background, national origin, age, disability or veteran status in of its activities or operations.
