More than 850 volunteers and 106 Faith Community partners enable ICS to provide services to seniors, disabled individuals and families in financial crisis. Our Vision for Those We Serve Seniors and disabled individuals will have transportation, meals, and caregiving services available to them so they can remain independent in their homes. People in financial crisis will have a compassionate place to turn to for vital services that help stabilize their housing, employment, and health care situations. Seniors, disabled individuals, and people in financial crisis may gain access to personal resources, social support, and information to make informed decisions. Every day, ICS helps many local individuals and families obtain the necessities that they might otherwise be forced to go without. Twenty percent of residents in Pima County are seniors (65 or older) and 25 percent of them need some help maintaining independent living. ICS assists them with services such as Mobile Meals, caregiving, transportation, and health advocacy home visits. Eighteen percent of Pima County residents, and 98 percent of our recipients, fall below the federal poverty level. Many of these are working-poor families who lack health insurance and do not qualify for public health care. Often they live on the edge of homelessness. For thousands of individuals each year, a modest amount of support from the ICS Food Bank, Gifts of Love and Emergency Financial Assistance make the difference in maintaining financial stability.
