Join 1951 Coffee Company at 7:00pm on Wednesday, August 8th as we welcome Holocaust survivor, public speaker, and writer Sylvia Ruth Gutmann to speak about her experiences as a refugee and survivor of war and sign her newly published memoir.
Born in 1939 to Jewish parents in Belgium, Sylvia is now one of the last remaining Holocaust survivors. Her mission is to spread a message of peace, of what it means to be a child survivor of such horrors, and how these scars take a lifetime to heal. Her book, A Life Rebuilt: The Remarkable Transformation of a War Orphan has a publication date of July 7th and has already received raving reviews: Kirkus Review calls it "an achingly beautiful account [...] an insightful effort to bring some clarity to an incomprehensible wartime catastrophe."
