The Black Irish Band performs original as well as traditional songs that relate to Irish & Scottish immigrants in the American West. The band is known for their rich storytelling through original songs about those who would dare to cross the oceans and become a part of the challenging landscape.
The band first formed in 1989, when three members were cast as extras in the blockbuster film, Back to the Future 3. The newly formed group decided to take the name Black Irish, because of its dual meaning of Spanish & Irish, or Italian & Irish, which was perfect for what would become the band's signature folk sound of a little bit of everything mixed together.
Early influences of the band were the Clancy Brothers and Kingston Trio, but as the band created original material, they created their own style of Black Irish Folk. To date the band has recorded over a hundred original songs and has recorded 35 CD albums, many of which are on themed historic subjects.
