Spring Recess Camp It's the perfect time to get and get dirty, so put
on your explorer hat, grab your binoculars and bug nets, a let's hit
the trail for some science fun! As San Francisco awakens from its
winter rest, signs of spring begin to bloom all around us—buds on
the trees, birds nesting, and salamanders surfacing from their hiding
spots. At Tree Frog Treks, our trained naturalists know that spring is
one of the most exciting times to explore the city’s wild spaces.
Join our Wild Science team this spring for a season of discovery,
adventure, and hands-on learning! Holly Park Spring Camp is a highly
mobile program that begins each day at Holly Park and heads out to
explore high-interest nature destinations throughout San Francisco. We
travel by “BMW” (Bus, Muni, Walk) to locations like Fort Funston,
Lands End, Bernal Heights, Golden Gate Park, and the Presidio Tunnel
Tops. Campers will also visit our headquarters—Frog Hall—for
animal time, or bring one of our Animal Ambassadors along for the
ride! Each morning kicks off with a “mind map”—a silly,
energizing group circle that introduces the theme of the day. Then
it’s time to hit the trail! Campers may walk 1–5 miles as they
explore the vibrant parks, beaches, and forests of the city. Along the
way, they’ll encounter plants in bloom, insects on the move, and
maybe even catch a glimpse of Red-tailed Hawks overhead or Slender
Salamanders underfoot. Spring Camp blends outdoor exploration with
hands-on science experiments, nature-based art projects, group games,
and up-close encounters with Animal Ambassadors like Ziggy the Bearded
Dragon or Blondie the Burmese Python. Campers build friendships,
deepen their love of nature, and learn how to observe the world like
true naturalists.
