The Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County maintain the
17-acre BIXBY MARSHLAND. The MARSHLAND IS LOCATED IN THE CITY OF
CARSON, just east of the 110 Freeway and South of Sepulveda Blvd. This
urban jewel is a freshwater habitat containing a diverse group of
native plants and animals. The MARSHLAND HAS TRAILS, informational
signs, and shade structures. Docents are available for guided tours as
well!Bixby Marshland is home to
* 110 plant species including, 73 that are native
* 69 bird species, including ducks, herons, egrets, coots,
hummingbirds and more.
* Baja California tree frogs.
* The common side-blotched lizard, western fence lizard, and the
painted turtle.
