The Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County maintain the 17-acre Bixby Marshland. The Marshland is located in the City of Carson, just east of the 110 Freeway and South of Sepulveda Blvd. This urban jewel is a freshwater habitat containing a diverse group of native plants and animals. The marshland has trails, informational signs, and shade structures. Docents are available for guided tours as well!

Bixby Marshland is home to

  • 110 plant species including, 73 that are native
  • 69 bird species, including ducks, herons, egrets, coots, hummingbirds and more.
  • Baja California tree frogs.
  • The common side-blotched lizard, western fence lizard, and the painted turtle.
