Join us for a special celebration of the western monarch butterfly and the native pollinators that help sustain California’s ecosystems during the Spring 2026 Horace Albright Lecture in Conservation.

We will be screening Western Monarch Butterflies: Protecting Our Pollinators, an inspiring documentary by filmmaker Ian Nelson that follows the monarch’s extraordinary journey and the communities working tirelessly to protect them.

Watch the trailer here.

Following the screening, we invite you to join in a Q&A conversation with:

• Peter Oboyski, PhD — Distinguished Senior Museum Scientist, Essig Museum of Entomology

• David Ackerly — Dean, Rausser College of Natural Resources

• Ian Nelson — Filmmaker

Their conversation will explore the science, storytelling, and conservation efforts shaping the future of monarch and pollinator protection.
