Felipe Martinez and Ayano Yoneda are back to teach tango in Berkeley! This is a series of four classes geared towards total beginners and almost-beginners. Tango is an improvisational dance based on connection and communication. Felipe and Ayano teach the fundamental structures that give rise to grace, fluidity, and creativity in social dancing.
These classes are taught using the terms "leaders" and "followers," and are inclusive to queer, trans, and non-binary people.
Wednesdays: August 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th
6:45 pm: check-in
7:00-8:00 pm beginning tango series
8:00-8:30 pm practica
The practicas are included with the classes. Stay, dance, and ask questions!
$80 general admission (all four classes)
$25 general admission (single class)
$15 student with ID (single class)
$40 both classes in one evening (one person)
We accept cash and venmo at the door.
As of now, August 5th is scheduled for the drawing room, and the other dates are scheduled for the ballroom. The room reservation may change.
We are a 10-minute walk from Downtown Berkeley BART. For bike parking, use the bell to enter through the service entrance, and go straight to get to the back courtyard. No parking in the Berkeley City Club lot.
At 8:30 pm on the same dates, Felipe and Ayano teach the intermediate tango series. The intermediate series is geared towards people who have been dancing tango for about three months (12 tango classes). Tickets here:
