This June, CounterPulse welcomes three Block Fest Artist Activators to engage the community with fun, free, family-friendly art activities.
Join Ramekon O’Arwisters, Steve Tanksley, Rachel Lozada, and Rick Darnell for an afternoon of crocheting, drumming, weaving, and music-making.
Social practice artist Ramekon O’Arwisters welcomes you to participate in the Crochet Jam, a community-building activity that incorporate crocheting strips of fabric into individual free-form and organic soft sculpture.
Next, Tenderloin's Steve Tanksley brings an inclusive, empowering and joyous Drumming Circle where folks can unite through drumming. Get your music on while learning new rhythms and beats with your community.
Join Rachel Lozada in fun-filled activities to discover the art of weaving. Enjoy exploring different cultures and weaving traditions, and the best part: take your wonderful weaving creations with you!
Lastly, create your own DIY melodies alongside Rick Darnell. Choose your own tunes, and play with music boxes to create unique "orchestra" compositions and music. At the end, you can document your lovely projects and share them with friends and family on social media!
All Block Fest activities are simultaneously fun and educational, incorporating basic art elements in a family-friendly art activity event of, by, and for the Tenderloin community.
Block Fest is supported by BLICK Art Materials.
Block Fest is a part of 4 Corner Friday.
