PARR: Prosthetic and Amputee Rehab and Research Foundation
Tampa, FL, United States
PARR supports and serves the amputee community by connecting research, education, and clinical care There are gaps between education, research, and clinical care in the prosthetic community. PARR aims to bridge these gaps, ultimately benefiting amputees. PARR sponsors educational courses for rehabilitation specialists, including physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and certified prosthetists and orthotists. PARR supports unique athletic and recreational events in which persons living with limb loss can participate. PARR foundation directors provide knowledge and services to the amputee community that would otherwise be difficult to access, as such services are not covered by insurance or therapy. PARR volunteers in the community by teaching programs for walking, biking, and other therapeutic techniques. PARR leadership will also help facilitate amputees who may not have the means, receive prosthetics or proper service from prosthetists in the community. Through these outreach programs, PARR leadership is able to help people regain the ability to perform activities, receive applicable education, and benefit from prosthetic devices necessary for activities of daily living. The PARR foundation has and will continue to engage in advocacy initiatives to improve the quality of life for persons living with limb loss.
