The CHICAGO Literacy Alliance is proud to partner with WTTW to host a
West Loop viewing of the premier of The Great American Read
[http://www.pbs.org/the-great-american-read/home/], an eight-part
series that explores and celebrates the power of reading, told through
the prism of America’s 100 best-loved novels (as chosen in a
national survey). It investigates how and why writers create their
fictional worlds, how we as readers are affected by these stories, and
what these 100 different books have to say about our diverse nation
and our shared human experience. JOIN FELLOW BOOK-LOVERS AT THIS
FREE LIVE SCREENING WHERE WE'LL CELEBRATE READING, SHARE OUR FAVORITE
BOOKS FROM THE TOP 100 LIST, AND SELECT A SUMMER READING LIST. All
ages of readers welcome! Drinks, movie snacks, and a selection of
craft beer and wine (for attendees 21+) will be provided.
