The Corpus Christi Parish in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey. WORSHIP Our Spiritual Life We worship God through Word and Sacrament The parish community nourishes, supports, and forms each member in the faith through worship, evangelization, stewardship, baptismal call and call to holiness. LITURGY AND PRAYER: • Masses: Saturday Vigil: In the Chapel 5:00 pm Sundays: In the Church 8:00 am In the Chapel 10:00 am and 12:00 noon In the Church 6:00 pm Weekday Masses: In the Church 7:00 am and 8:00 am Note: 8:00 am ONLY through Memorial Day through Labor Day Saturday Morning Mass: In the Church 8:00am Church: located on the Boulevard, between Kipp Avenue & Washington Place Chapel: located in the school with its front doors facing Kipp A venue Adoration Chapel: Connected to the Main Church, next to the flag pole, located off the small parking lot on the corner of the Boulevard and K.ipp Avenue • Liturgy of the Word with Children: Sundays during the I 0:30 am liturgy. Children gather to celebrate a Liturgy of the Word geared to their age and developmental level. • Eucharistic Adoration: Come, stay with me. All are invited to come and pray before the Blessed Sacrament weekdays 12pm to 12am at the Eucharistic Adoration Chapel (see above for location) SACRAMENTS: • RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation o(Adults): An invitation is extended to anyone who seeks to become a Roman Catholic and to Catholics who want to complete their sacramental initiation (First Eucharist and Confirmation). The parish team joins you (the inquirers) through a journey of reflection, growth, community, prayer, and instruction. The RCIA is offered to adults and children 7 years and older. • Baptism Preparation supports parents and godparents prepare for the sacrament. • Sacrament of Reconciliation: Saturdays 4:00 - 4:45pm or at other days and times by appointment. Advent and Lent 7:00-7 :30pm weekdays in the Main Church. • First Reconciliation and Eucharist Preparation supports children and families prepare for the sacrament through the faith formation program. • Confirmation Preparation for Teens supports teens and their families prepare for the sacrament through the faith formation program. • Marriage Preparation assists engaged couples in their preparation for the Sacrament of Marriage through pre-marriage counseling, Pre-Cana or Engaged Encounter, and "God's Plan for Joyful Marriage" program. • Anointing of the Sick is celebrated communally or by appointment • Funeral Ministry visits families at wakes and assist them in planning the funeral liturgy. LITURGICAL MINISTERS: • Altar Servers serve at weekend liturgies, funerals, and weddings. • Eucharistic Ministers assist the priests and deacons by distributing Holy Communion at Mass and bring Holy Communion to the homebound. • Lectors proclaim the Word of God and read the general intercessions at weekend Masses and holidays. • Ministers of Ushers (Hospitality) greet parishioners as they enter for Mass as an act of welcome and hospitality. Ushers also take up collections at Masses. • Music Ministry includes cantors, musicians, and adult and children's choirs who regularly assist the community in praying at the liturgies. Advanced training is not required. • Liturgical Environment Committee helps to maintain church building decor and atmosphere through decorating, light cleaning, and maintaining the items in the sacristy, used for worship. WELCOME MINISTRY: "Anyone who welcomes you, welcomes me; and those who welcome me, welcome the one who sent me." (Mt.l0:40) The committee develops ways to welcome new members to our parish family and to reach out to the alienated and inactive. Every member of the Parish is encouraged to assist the welcoming committee by greeting new parishioners and providing a warm atmosphere for all worshippers. CALL TO HOLINESS: Programs for personal spiritual formation are provided by the parish, i.e. retreats. WORD Our Educational and Formational Life Go out to the whole world and preach the Good News. The parish is dedicated to promote the vision of lifelong faith formation with catechetical opportunities that foster one's life in Christ. Whether you are one or over a hundred and one there's something here for you. CATECHETICAL PROGRAMS: Adult Faith Formation/Education promotes spiritual growth through faith sharing groups, personal witness, liturgy, and prayer. • Beyond Baptism provides support to parents from Baptism and beyond. • Couples for Christ provides an integrated course leading to a renewed understanding of God's call to discipleship for couples, single men and women, widows and widowers, divorced men and women, and families. A continued formation program is available to members through regular teachings, prayer meetings, assemblies, and retreats. • Question of the Week provides scripture readings, reflections, and questions on the Sunday readings. • Small Christian Communities are groups of ordinary people listening to their own story and the stories of others in light of the Scriptures in an attempt to make sense of their life, or life itself, in a small, safe, intimate environment. Small seasonal groups meet to share faith and Scripture. Children's Faith Formation/Education, which in partnership with parents, assists the faith formation of the children of the parish. The essential elements of the Christian message are faithfully presented. We share our Catholic faith through the use of Scripture, story-telling, and church traditions to more fully enable the children to experience God in their lives. Service and works towards social justice are encouraged. • Sacramental preparation programs (First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, and Confirmation.) assist children and their families in understanding and preparing for the sacraments. • Corpus Christi Religious Education is the parish faith formation program that serves young people in first through eighth grade who are enrolled in a public school. Classes are conducted weekly. EDUCATIONAL LEADERS: Catechists assist in the faith formation of the children of the Parish. Catechists are trained to share the Catholic faith. CORPUS CHRISTI SCHOOL: Corpus Christi School is the parish Catholic school that serves young people in pre-school through eighth grade by integrating learning and life, based on Gospel values. See our website for further information http://corpuschristischool.net/ccs/ • School Advisory Board members take an active leadership role in providing for the well being of the school serving as a consultative body that advises the Pastor and principal on policy issues. • Home School Association assists the pastor and the principal in building community and fundraising as they work together. SERVICE Our Life in Service "Let everything you do be done in love." (1 Cor. 16:14) Members of the parish are called to become ministers through their reception of the sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. The most significant place for that ministry to take place is in the everyday life of parishioners seeking to renew society with the spirit of the Gospel. The parish community also acknowledges and promotes ministry which is directed to, for and with the sick, the dying, the disabled, the afflicted, the lonely, the alienated, and the unborn. The parish also promotes family life, catechesis, education and action on behalf of justice for all. RESPONDING TO HUMAN NEEDS Focuses on the human needs of its own members and the needs all the poor and marginalized. • Social Justice Committee encourages the faithful to work for justice in their own public lives. Has an agenda of social change. • Food Pantry/Soup Kitchen is a joint Assumption and Corpus Christi Parish food pantry/soup kitchen known as ACC Meals with a Mission. • Bereavement Ministry provides a place of comfort and support for those who have experienced the loss of a loved one or a friend. • Ministry to the Sick and Homebound brings the Body of Christ to those who are unable to join us in person at our celebrations. RESPECT FOR LIFE Educational opportunities concerning respect for life issues, from conception to natural death, are offered to the parish. COMMUNITY Our Parish Life We are present to one another for the common good. We contribute to building the Kingdom of God by engaging people in all life stages and providing opportunities for involvement that promote the common good of our parish and community. As members of this Stewardship Parish, all parishioners are invited to live the Stewardship Way of Life through offerings of Time, Talent and Treasure. CORPUS CHRISTI FEAST PRAYER, PROCESSION & PICNIC Our summer feast celebration with prayer, procession and fellowship. FAMILY LIFE Offering a comprehensive pastoral outreach to the families who are part of the parish community. YOUTH ATHLETICS GROUPS • Youth Basketball is a lively program offered for boys and girls from the parish of elementary school age. The Basketball Program offers skill training, as well as traveling teams and inter-mural play. The program is coached and supervised by a dedicated group of parent volunteers, and a priest from the parish. • Cheerleading is offered for girls from the parish. The cheerleaders learn cheers and cheer at home games. The girls are coached and supervised by college volunteers and parents. YOUTH MINISTRY A part of the Assumption - Corpus Christi Teen Ministry (ACCTM), is joint New Energies Project with Assumption Parish.
