Rights@Work: Family Leave

THE FIRST FEW MONTHS WITH YOUR NEWBORN ARE MOMENTS YOU WILL NEVER GET BACK.  Will you spend them snuggling with your newborn, blissfully uninterrupted, falling asleep lazily together while you marvel at tiny little toenails and delicious smell? Or will you spend them angrily fending off intrusive work emails, stressing about how your baby will fare when you return to work too early, and worrying about your bank account balance – all because you didn’t know your legal RIGHTS AND DIDN’t make a plan that enabled you to take the time off work you really needed and wanted?  (SPOILER ALERT: it will be the former, because you came to this workshop.) PLEASE JOIN PREGNANCY DISCRIMINATION ATTORNEY SUSAN CRUMILLER at her favorite Park Slope neighborhood institution, CHOCOLATERIA (FORMERLY COCOA BAR), Tuesday, June 26th, at 7:30pm, for a galvanizing discussion on HOW TO AVOID GETTING SCREWED ON YOUR MATERNITY OR PATERNITY LEAVE. We will discuss topics like: * Your rights under state, city, and federal laws * Strategies for your particular office environment (hierarchies and politics) * Why you should NOT make and freeze casseroles * Why Susan’s three-year-old can out-negotiate her & how you can adopt those techniques to get what you deserve * New York’s new paid family leave legislation * Why "No Woman [or Man] Is An Island"   Come out, drink some wine or (iced!) hot chocolate, eat some cupcakes, and meet other smart, professional women and men in the neighborhood.  ------------------------- This workshop is free, but please buy some food and drink so we continue to be invited back by our generous hosts.
