Dates: Apr 7, 14, 21, 28 Instructor: Annika Wahlsten In the Mending 101 course students will learn to mend, patch, and adorn worn cloth with hand-stitching. Students will be introduced to a variety of visible mending techniques, including traditional embroidery stitching, darning, basic patchworking techniques, and the rich history behind different canonized mending styles. We will combine these different techniques to create a unique mending composition on your garment or textile, both personalizing it and repairing it, all at once! Students are encouraged to bring garments or samples in need of mending, as well as beloved scraps and adornments to include in the mending process. -- Our classes are designed to focus on a learned skill rather than a final product. At TAC, our mission is to provide skills and knowledge for a lifetime! All materials for sample making and learning the technique are included. Any additional materials will need to be supplied by the student based on their vision. 4 Week students have access to Open Studio time for free during the class and for up to a week after the class to put their new knowledge to practice.
