For over 100 years, wooden water towers have stood tall above New York City as emblems of ingenuity and resiliency. With simple, elegant craftsmanship, these iconic structures offer not only a practical solution, but have transformed the landscape of the city and inspired artists for generations. Join us on the NYC Water Tower Tour to explore the wonder.

The tour starts on the High Line and snakes through Manhattan West, through Moynihan Train Hall and ends on 33rd and 8th Avenue. It is 1.5 hours and approximately 1.5 miles.

Along the way we’ll see lots of water towers, discuss how they work, why they were a tool that propelled NYC into the modern age, discuss water towers in art and architecture, unique uses for water towers and much more. Participants will receive an exclusive NYC Water Tower Tours map with notable water towers all over the city.
