Winter Concert: Yale Strom & Hot Pstrom

As the city shuts down on December 25th, the Museum at Eldridge Street on Manhattan’s historic Lower East Side comes to life for an afternoon of soulful and spirited klezmer music for the whole family.

Klezmer artist and scholar Yale Strom and his band, Hot Pstromi, mixes classic Yiddish songs and klezmer melodies with original compositions. Hear traditional songs and tunes Yale Strom found during his years of ethnographic field research in Eastern Europe.

The number 18 is significant in Jewish numerology, meaning life, and this concert comes 18 years after Yale Strom led A Great Day on Eldridge Street in October of 2007, an unprecedented gathering of over 100 klezmer musicians on the steps of the Eldridge Street Synagogue. Two months later, the museum’s 20-year restoration was finally complete, and this historical testament to Jewish life became the Museum at Eldridge Street.
