Composed by the Grammy award-winning artist Gabriela Lena Frank in collaboration with playwright Nilo Cruz, El Ultimo Sueno De Frida Y Diego makes its Met Opera debut in 2026! The work's 2022 premiere was met with critical acclaim for its stunning incorporation of Mexican-folk traditions into the operatic form. Conducted by Yannick Nezet-Seguin and with a cast led by Isabel Leonard as Frida and Nils Wanderer as Diego, the story of love, death, and El Dios de los Muertos is told in a way like no other.
