When the Muppets’ college revue is a big hit, they decide to take the show all the way to Broadway. Adjusting to the hustle and bustle of New York City, Kermit takes a job at a local restaurant while he searches for a producer. Filled with cameos by quintessential New Yorkers, such as Gregory Hines, Joan Rivers, James Coco, Brooke Shields, and Liza Minnelli, the movie ends with a fantastical and questionably genuine wedding between Kermit and Miss Piggy. Oz’s first solo-directed film is a dose of pure joy, a true gift to showtune lovers featuring some of the greatest songs in the Muppet canon and the beloved “Muppet Babies” sequence that spawned its own mini-franchise.
